Swiss+Cotton: Christian Fischbacher is one of very few companies in the world that are allowed to carry the swiss+cotton quality seal. The seal guarantees that these fine cotton textiles are produced in Switzerland and guarantees the highest quality throughout the entire value chain. Only the top 3% of cotton fabrics produced worldwide satisfies the seal’s exceptionally high standards in terms of material quality. Christian Fischbacher exclusively uses long staple cotton with the Supima quality seal for its swiss+cotton bed linen.

Thread Count: It is possible to produce very dense fabrics. However, if a fabric is too dense, this often reduces moisture transfer. We believe that this is not entirely suitable for bed linen in particular, we consistently focus on quality instead. The quality of a fabric depends on the raw materials and finish used. We use long staple cotton, linen and silk. The natural fibres have many advantages for bed linen, making it absorbent and strong. It absorbs perspiration, creating a uniquely comfortable sleeping environment. Furthermore, we only use top-quality, environmentally friendly dyes and the best pre- and post-treatment processes. Quality is more than just the thread count.
(Our satin has a thread count of about 300, while the thread count of our Fil-à-Fil products is 440).

We attach great importance to the fact that geese are not plucked alive and are not fed for the production of fatty liver. They are soft, fluffy and particularly light and cozy with a high degree of warmth. They are also washable and easy to maintain. The region of origin of our down and feather flake products is indicated for each product.
Products made with the DOWNPASS label are synonymous with high quality and certify that the down flakes and feathers used as filler material have been obtained ethically and come from strictly controlled and traceable supply chains. In addition, the quality of all products is checked by independent testing institutes. In short: so that you know what's inside.

SWISSWOOL

Wool, a natural and sustainable raw material, is much more than a thousand-year-old natural fiber for Baur Vliesstoffe. It inspires pioneering ideas to produce a wide range of breathable non-woven materials from naturally occurring fibers, which can then be transformed into a multitude of products. Indeed, wool has exceptional properties such as regulating temperature and ambient humidity, or neutralizing odors. All premium wool fibers from Baur Vliesstoffe used for BICO products are produced under the swisswool label.

BICO uses only handpicked fibers
BICO is proud of its production partner with whom it has had a long-standing relationship of trust. Indeed, few companies in the world are able to transform the raw material with so much know-how. Baur's non-woven materials used at BICO for box spring headboards as well as nonwovens for mattresses are produced in an environmentally responsible and resource-efficient manner.
The production of such quality nonwoven materials requires very specific wool fibers, possessing a particular length, fineness and waviness.

SWISSWOOL:
A local raw material
About 10 years ago, shepherds earned almost nothing with the wool of their sheep and some even ended up burning it. Friedrich Baur got wind of this mess and together with a handful of Swiss Shepherds he created the initiative
"Swisswool". The aim was to market the raw material under a common label. In this context, the emphasis is on creating sustainable value.
Once the sheep have been shorn, the wool is transported in a short circuit to one of the 20 collection points, the collection being organized twice a year throughout Switzerland. The precious “delivery” is weighed there and directly remunerated to the shepherds. Then, regional partners transform the wool into superior quality products.

Why sheep's wool?

• Wool fibers are renewable protein fibers that grow every year.
• Sheep wool regulates variations in humidity in each room.

Tisca fabrics

Tisca wool fabrics are made in the picturesque Appenzell country, where the weaving has a centuries-old tradition. This is now done by state-of-the-art machinery rather than by hand, but one thing has not changed: the quest for supreme quality.

Tisca and BICO are constantly striving to reduce their ecological footprint. Thus, they explicitly promote the use of natural and renewable raw materials, which is the case with wool. It is also for this reason that the brand has chosen fabrics composed of 85% wool.

Outlast^® technology, originally developed for NASA, utilizes phase change materials (PCM) that absorb, store and release heat for optimal thermal comfort.  Outlast^® technology is comparable to ice in a drink; as it changes from solid to liquid, it absorbs heat and cools the drink, keeping that drink at the desired temperature for longer. Outlast^® phase change materials work in the same way, but are microencapsulated to be permanently enclosed and protected in a polymer shell. We call microencapsulated phase change materials Thermocules™.

This encapsulation process makes the Thermocules™ exceptionally durable for many applications. These Thermocules™ can be incorporated into fabrics and fibers and have the capacity to absorb, store and release excess heat.  This gives any product containing Outlast^® technology the ability to continually regulate skin’s microclimate. As the skin gets hot, the heat is absorbed, and as it cools, that heat is released.

Outlast^® technology is not wicking technology, which manages moisture by reacting to your sweat and pulling it away from the skin. Down and feather products
The downs and feathers used for our ORGANIC products come from GOTS-certified breeders from controlled biological animal husbandry.

Down are distinguished by their excellent insulating properties and respiratory activity in relation to their light weight. Despite the latest technology, no material has yet been developed which fulfills these properties in the same quality and is also completely biodegradable. Before filling, the down and feathers are thoroughly washed several times and are subject to strict, hygienic controls. These high-quality duvets and pillows are manufactured in the factory of Billerbeck Schweiz AG. The strict quality control is carried out without any gaps according to Swiss criteria.

Natural fiber products
High-quality, natural fiber products are a good alternative to bedding made from down and feathers. For these ORGANIC products, we rely on wool and cotton fibers from biologically controlled crops. Only renewable and organic materials are used.

Quality assurance is ensured by independent certification of the entire textile supply chain. This ensures the sustainable production of bedding - from raw material to packaging.

In addition, GOTS defines significant social criteria, which the participating companies consciously respect and live with.

Introduction

The STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX® is a worldwide consistent, independent testing and certification system for raw, semi-finished, and finished textile products at all processing levels, as well as accessory materials used. Examples of articles that can be certified: raw and dyed/finished yarns, woven and knitted fabrics, accessories, such as buttons, zip fasteners, sewing threads or labels, ready-made articles of various types (garments of all types, domestic and household textiles, bed linen, terry products and much more).

Criteria

Since its introduction in 1992, the central focus of the STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX® has been the development of test criteria, limit values and test methods on a scientific basis. On the basis of its comprehensive and strict catalogue of measures, with several hundred regulated individual substances, the STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX® takes account of:

• Important legal regulations, such as banned Azo colourants, formaldehyde, pentachlorophenol, cadmium, nickel, etc.
• Numerous harmful chemicals, even if they are not yet legally regulated.
• Requirements of Annexes XVII and XIV of the European Chemicals Regulation REACh as well as of the ECHA SVHC Candidate List insofar as they are assessed by expert groups of the OEKO-TEX® Association to be relevant for fabrics, textiles, garments or accessories. Discussions and developments that are considered to be relevant are taken into account as quickly and effectively as possible through updates to the STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX® requirements.
• Requirements from the US Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act (CPSIA) regarding lead.
• Numerous also environmentally relevant substance classes

With its decades of experience, the OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 therefore contributes to high and effective product safety from a consumer’s point of view. Test criteria and limit values in many cases go far beyond applicable national and international standards. Extensive product checks and regular company audits also ensure that the industry has a globally sustainable awareness of the responsible use of chemicals. With this concept, the OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 has taken on a pioneering role for many years.

The largest Swiss manufacturers of down duvets and feather pillows founded the Swiss Bedding Manufacturer’s Association (VSB) over 50 years ago.

Our primary goal is to provide greater clarity and confidence for customers purchasing bedding. That is why the “Swiss Guaranty VSB” quality seal was created by the VSB in 2001.

The quality seal replaced the previous „plumarex“ label.

The “Swiss Guaranty VSB” quality seal can only be used by Swiss Bedding Manufacturer’s Association members who have agreed to comply with the established quality standards. “Swiss Guaranty VSB” is a quality seal that ensures a maximum of clarity and confidence when you purchase bedding

• Completely natural. Only pure, natural goose and duck down and feathers have been used.
• Animal welfare. All the down and feathers have been plucked from dead animals.
• Hygienic. The down and feathers have been cleaned according to strict hygiene regulations and
  dried at temperatures in excess of 100% to render them completely germ free.
• Protection against mites. The covering material for both down duvets and feather pillows has been
  woven so closely that mites are unable to penetrate the fabric.
• Environmentally friendly. The down and feathers have been washed using biodegradable detergents.
• Recycling. The manufacturers work in association with Texaid to take back all the down duvets and feather pillows that are no longer required for environmentally friendly recycling.
• Clarity. All goods declarations concerning down and feather content comply with strict Swiss
  standards.
• Confidence. There is a two-year manufacturers guarantee of flawless quality on every duvet as
  long as you care for your duvet according to the tips on the duvet label.
• Protection. Should a difference of opinion arise between consumer and manufacturer concerning compliance with the terms of this quality guarantee, the consumer can refer the matter to the
  VSB arbitration board

The NOMITE mark indicates that a product is suitable for house-dust-mite-allergy sufferers: because down- and feather-filled products offer excellent thermal and climatic conditions for humans (rapid warming up when one is sleeping, rapid decrease in humidity when the bedding is aired), they provide a very poor habitat for house dust mites, which rely on high humidity to live.

The tight weave of the down- and feather-proof fabric acts as a barrier preventing the mites from passing through and offers, thus, additional protection. So that also those who suffer from house dust allergies or asthma can enjoy the natural comfort afforded by down and feather bedding. This has been demonstrated by scientific research.

The natural fibre Tencel^® is made from 100% wood. It is particularly environmentally-friendly due to its closed circuit production. It also impresses with its rapid moisture regulation, mite and bacteria protection and its antistatic effect. Thanks to its smooth surfaces, it is kind to skin. The material is also washable up to 60°C.

EvoPoreHRC is a dynamic, elastic foam that is outstanding by virtue of its low weight and high level of resistance. Thanks to the cell structure with differently sized pores, it remains moisture-stable and elastic under considerable weight-bearing and high heat.
